D.Gray Man Episode 4-5

The two episodes were all about the so called ghost of Mateel. Allen and Kanda’s mission was to get the innocence from the doll named Lala. As the fight with the akuma passes by, Kanda was seriously wounded together with Tomo the finder. Allen made his way to the high mountains while carrying Kanda and Tomo, there was a building up there where he saw Lala. Lala attacked Allen but Allen explained to her that he’s not an enemy. Lala pleaded to Allen that she doesn’t want them to have her innocence yet since Guzol doesn’t want anyone to shut Lala off but only him. Allen was moved by their love for each other and decided not to get the innocence until Guzol will die. Kanda thought that it would be a bad idea since there is an akuma on the loose. But Allen didn’t listen to him and the two fought with each other.

Lala and Guzol were suddenly pierced with a sharp weapon in front of them and were absorbed through the sand. The akuma appeared from the sand with the innocence from his other hand and threw Guzol and Lala’s body to the ground. Allen was mad and stood up saying to the Akuma to give back the innocence. His anti-akuma weapon evolved in a mysterious shape, and it turned out to be a gun. He shot the akuma with hundreds of flinging bullets yet the akuma was able to get away. The akuma turned into sand and got Allen right where he wanted, in his stomach.

The akuma punched his sand made belly in order to grind Allen into pieces, but its stomach blew when Allen shoots in the inside. Allen was able to get outside his belly and turned his weapon into a sword. He directly cut the Akuma’s sand skin into half, and changed his weapon into a gun again. He shots another round of hundreds of bullets to the Akuma; since the akuma got the innocence he was able to shield his body with the use of Allen’s default akuma weapon (the hand). Allen’s emotions run on his weapon and his shots went stronger when he remembered Guzol’s love for Lala. The Akuma’s hand was slowly decaying.

But alas, Allen was already down to his limit. His hands changed into the way it was. The akuma was pretty ecstatic about it and charged to Allen, but his attack was block by Kanda’s sword. Allen was scolded by Kanda to never give up. Both of them went hand-in-hand and released their ultimate weapon. The akuma was nowhere to be seen and all there was left was the innocence, Allen wanted for Lala to live once more… and so he got the innocence from his hand and put it on Lala. Guzol shed a tear when he saw Lala and told her that she loved her until the bitter end. Lala sang with all her heart when Guzol passed away.

Allen was sitting on the stairs waiting until the night. Kanda arrived and told him that he’ll be on another mission and Allen would take the innocence back at the headquarters. Kanda even told Allen that they are destroyers and not saviors. Their conversation stopped when a chilly air blew. Allen head back at the building where he saw Lala already stopped singing. Allen went near and when he was about to get the innocence from Lala, Lala thanked him for letting her sing for Guzol until the end. She fell into Allen’s hands and Allen cried. He told Kanda that he wants to be a destroyer that can save someone……

This first arc is what hooked a lot of people into the show, I think. It’s a touching story and brings out the seriousness of the series.
